Back to school again!

This post is extremely long overdue. I'm trying to make a point to blog every day, just giving my bits of advice about the world and presenting some random musings for your enjoyment, or not.

So I have returned to my home at the University of Illinois. It's strange to realize that a 12x15 foot room with two inhabitants has became my home. its my peaceful place in the crowded  campus. Not to mention my only refuge from the cold. It was -10 today, the Champaign elementary schools closed because of the weather, but I still had to go to class. Unfair. :(

but I guess I should go back to everything that has really happened this week. Up until about 2 weeks ago I didn't have a ride back to school, I was kind of in denial about figuring it out since my dad couldn't drive me back and I didn't want to have to say good bye to my boyfriend quite yet. Although it was figured out quite easily when I asked my roommate how she was getting back and hitched a ride with them. Although Blake, my roommate bailed last minute and drove back herself, leaving me alone with Carley our mutual friend. The ride was very enjoyable despite the fact that it was 3 hours long, filled with conversations about how the american girl doll industry is going to hell, by getting rid of the traditional dolls and updating with small problem dolls.

Being back in school was great, I saw my best friend Ashley for the first time in a month and although it took forever to unpack all the clothing I brought over break, I was able to run to the gym with her and our friend Marco before squeezing in a late night shift at the schools convenience store. it was 7:30-Midnight and although those shifts are a major drag, I became broke over the break, going shopping many times and buying all my books for school.

I fell in love with my classes; Public Speaking, Insects and People, Intro to Advertising, The Roman Tradition, and Analyzing Short Stories. Mostly Gen-eds except my advertising class, but I arranged my schedule perfectly. I can fit work in before and after classes, and even got a job interview at a new Starbucks so that I can get a second Job and work more hours.

Since things really haven't started yet I spent my syllabus week working like crazy and going just to the limit of my capped hours. (u of I has a rule that you cant work more then 20 hours) All the gym classes are also free so I attended a few of those and they give you a great work out. I'm seriously considering getting the $50 semester pass, it seems like the perfect thing to do on my off days.

So its basically been a whirlwind of activities, but I work best in a super busy environment. I start to freak out if I don't have anything to do really. So you will hear much about my adventures as well as many practical posts about time management and study skills, dorm life etc.

I think it will be pretty cool, So stick around!

Song Obsession of The Week: Truth by Alex Ebert

So my grandparents basement flooded this week, and seeing as I'm the only person around who isn't currently in school (my sister) and don't have a broken arm like my dad,  I got drafted into spending 4 hours this morning moving damaged boxes and repacking lots of dishes. My grandma has tendencies towards organized hoarding, and as I unpacked the 50th box filled with yet another plate set I was blasting my music on a loop. Since I only have like 35 songs on my phone and there was no service this song kept playing and has gotten stuck in my head. Originally introduced to me by my boyfriend Alex, a die hard Breaking Bad fan, who had downloaded it because of its fame from the show. Although Alex Ebert is commonly on my various Pandora playlists this is the first song that I have consciously sought out, and at the moment I can't get enough.

Check it out, Although I'm not the biggest fan of this music video, it grows on you and the song makes up for it.

Tell me what you think!
